“Like many organizations, the pandemic has had a profound effect on transitioning us to more of a hybrid work environment, while also reinforcing the critical need for us to have a place to gather in-person to collaborate, problem solve and do the strategic and creative partnering that has been at our core for 70 years. Our Executive Chairman, Scott Chaikin, currently sits on the Board, working to advance its impact in the community today.” Our founder, Henry Eaton, served on Playhouse Square’s Board during a pivotal point in its emergence as one of Cleveland’s essential arts and cultural civic institutions and chaired the Board at one point.

We have a long and proud history working with Playhouse Square to bring about progress in enriching our city. “When we identified the opportunity to join Playhouse Square’s campus and further our connection with the organization, we jumped at the chance. “We want to have a physical space that reflects both the current needs of our business and our people, while also being flexible to future shifts in technology and next-gen work environments,” said Dix & Eaton CEO Chas Withers. The move also further solidifies the longstanding relationship between the two organizations. The move to Playhouse Square’s high-energy, creative campus will offer significant benefits for the firm, including the ability to design a welcoming new space that meets the firm’s needs for a collaborative work environment, with potential for increased marketing opportunities in one of Cleveland’s thriving and attractive districts. In addition, Lake Erie Electric utilized surveying techniques with Total Station equipment to identify and pinpoint exact locations for thousands of stub-ups and stub-downs throughout the thirty-four floors. BIM modeling was also essential to the submittal and shop drawing process allowing us to have the capability to layout electrical bus duct risers to exact lengths and bends throughout the building. The Lumen tower required a strict, extensive, and demanding coordination process that included BIM modeling as a pre-construction task to develop and virtually construct the building systems prior to actual installation. The scope of work contracted to Lake Erie Electric included, not only electrical construction, but also several other trade packages such as: structured cabling, mass notification, CCTV, and access control. Lake Erie Electric was partnered with and awarded this project in 2018 based on our company’s reputation as an industry leader and our extensive knowledge and experience in electrical construction. In addition, the Lumen provides an on-site parking garage and resident focused amenities such as fitness center, outdoor terraces, swimming pool, and multiple social gathering areas and lounges. The new 34-story tower consists of over 600,000 square feet and houses 318 apartment suites. The Lumen at Playhouse Square is a residential high-rise luxury apartment complex situated in the heart of downtown Cleveland’s Theatre District.
